There is something in the air around the holidays that makes it a magical time for humans and puppies alike. Surrounded by new sights, sounds, smells and people, the holidays are full of fun and Penguin got to experience that first hand.

What better way to help a future assistance dog learn good behavior than a Thanksgiving feast? No turkey or tasty stuffing was going to cause Penguin to lose focus. He mastered Thanksgiving like a pro and enjoyed all the extra love from visiting family. The love and cuddles were a higher priority on Penguin’s list than the turkey.

Thanksgiving was just the start of Penguin’s holiday fun. With new experiences around every corner, each day of the holiday season brought more excitement to this Canine Companions puppy. Penguin practiced his public etiquette while helping pick out a Christmas tree and participate in the Pittsburgh tree lighting. He practiced his greetings and made a new best friend while helping people get ready for the season of giving at the gift wrapping station at Barnes & Nobles. Penguin also showed everyone his stylish side in the KDKA ugly Christmas sweater competition.

Penguin is ready to begin the new year and is looking forward to a year full of learning and making new friends. It is going to be a big year for Penguin as it is the year that he will begin professional training as well. That is still 11 months off, and Penguin is still excited for all the new adventures that this new year will hold.
