Longer days and warm weather can only mean one thing, summer is just around the corner. The not-so-little-anymore, Buckeye has taken every opportunity he can to get out in the community and enjoy the beautiful weather with all of his friends!
Root for the Home Team
It isn’t every day that the Stanley Cup Playoffs happen in a puppy’s backyard, but this was Buckeye’s lucky year as he got to help cheer the Columbus Blue Jackets on to Round 2 of the Stanley Cup. Sporting events offer lots of great training opportunities for puppies, but a playoff game offers even more. Buckeye met the challenge head on and did a great job! He got to practice his greetings with lots of excited fans, and his ability to ignore food and fun smells remained unbreakable.
The Blue Jackets weren’t the only ones Buckeye has been cheering on. Looking very handsome in pink, Buckeye gave everyone at the Columbus Race for the Cure a furry incentive to make it to the finish line. Buckeye got to meet lots of new friends, fans and a few furry friends as well.
In the Community
In addition to being a cheerleader, Buckeye has been a great ambassador for Canine Companions® spending time with community friends. He got to meet the Ohio Governor, thank an elementary school for raising $1,000 to help us continue to place assistance dogs free of charge, celebrate May the 4th with some of his best friends and a few Storm Troopers, support our communities heroes and visit with some of our corporate partners.
Buckeye just celebrated his 1st birthday!! Time sure flies when you are having fun!
Canine Companions is excited to be partnering with NBC4 to share Buckeye’s story. Stay tuned as Buckeye joins the NBC4 team on-air and at events in the community.
