Summertime is meant for fun in the sun and Canine Companions® puppy Buckeye is doing just that. From his baseball games to festivals, Buckeye is staying busy with many different adventures.

Summertime in Columbus is not complete without a visit to Huntington Park to watch a Clippers baseball game. Buckeye did a great job taking in all the sounds and smells all while staying focused on his volunteer puppy raiser. He even resisted taking part in the dime-a-dog hot dog night. Baseball isn’t the only sport Buckeye has been enjoying this summer. He attended his first polo game where he got to meet new horse friends as well as his first golf outing at Firestone Country Club.

Another summer tradition in Ohio is the Ohio State Fair. Buckeye made friends with a little cow and a two-day-old goat kid named Buckeye too!

Every adventure that Buckeye has is preparing him to become an assistance dog. Each new experience allows him to practice his commands and stay focused regardless of distractions. Each adventure gives Buckeye and his puppy raiser an opportunity to share Canine Companions’ mission with the central Ohio community.

Canine Companions is excited to be partnering with NBC4 to share Buckeye’s story. Stay tuned as Buckeye joins the NBC4 team on-air and at events in the community.
